I love this!

Downtown Raleigh will host a movie series this May and June featuring movies of the 1980s. The series runs 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Fridays, from May 22 to June 26. Movies will start at dusk - around 8:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at City Plaza on the 400 block of Fayetteville St.

The classic movies will be screened on a 40-foot by 60-foot screen. There also will be a DJ, food trucks and a beer tent. It's open to the public. Admission is free. I think this would be a fun event for parents of tweens or teens.

Here's the line-up:

May 22: Ghostbusters (PG)
May 29: Ferris Bueller's Day Off (PG-13)
June 5: The Goonies (PG)
June 12: Back to the Future (PG)
June 19: The Karate Kid (PG)

June 26: The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (This one is not from the 1980s, but from 2007. It's rated PG-13).
