Parent workshop focuses on child safety, boundaries

I'll be sharing much more about SAFEchild Advocacy Center in a series starting next week but, until then, I just wanted to post another reminder that they will have a session for parents this week.

The program focuses on talking with kids about personal boundaries and personal safety. It's from 10 a.m. to 11 :30 a.m., Thursday, at the center at 2815 Kidd Rd. in Raleigh. Cristin DeRonja, SAFEchild's Advocacy Center's director and a mom of four, will lead the session.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Cristin last week. I'll be featuring her on the site next Monday along with some important tips for parents starting next Wednesday.

SAFEchild works to prevent and stop child abuse and provides a variety of programs for kids, parents and others. Nearly all are completely free.

I know at least one Go Ask Mom reader wondered if the program could be held in the evenings or on the weekend when working parents could attend. I passed it on to the folks at SAFEchild, who said that was definitely something they could do.
