FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing a Spring Lake doughnut shop last year when the shop owners was killed.

Luis Marquez-Lopez, 20, and Angel Bonilla, 20, pleaded guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. They will be sentenced later.

Cumberland County authorities say that the two men, along with Patrick King, 19, robbed the Donut Connection on July 26, 2009. Ranesh Rai, 66, was working at the shop at the time and was shot and killed.

King faces charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and felony conspiracy in the case.

Murder charges were dropped against Marquez-Lopez and Bonilla in exchange for their pleas. They are expected to testify against King at his trial.

Three other people – April Marie Cox, Ebony Shavonne Jones and Shontae Daniele Johnson-Forbes – have been charged as accessories in the case. Authorities said they lied to investigators about King's whereabouts on the night of the robbery.
