FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two vacant homes on Link Street in Fayetteville were damaged early Thursday by fire, city fire officials said.

Emergency crews responded to 517 Link St. at about 1 a.m., and they returned to the area at about 3 a.m. after receiving a call about a fire at 506 Link St.

No injuries were reported in the fires, officials said. The cause of the fires was suspicious, although investigators said the fires may have been started to help keep people warm.

The Fayetteville Police Department is assisting fire officials with the investigation.
