FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Wednesday charged two men with murder in the death of a Fayetteville man whose remains were found last week in southern Hoke County.

Fort Bragg soldiers conducting a training exercise found the remains in a wooded area near Wagram, and a state medical examiner identified them as those of Fashaad Montez Lee.

Lee, a 19-year-old Fayetteville Technical Community College student, was last seen March 5, 2011.

Police said Lee was trying to cut ties with local gangs at the time, and his grandfather said Lee left home that day with a man who called himself "John" and never returned.

Based on their earlier investigation, Fayetteville police charged Roderick Haikeem Wilkerson, 25, and Tyemirh Young, 27, both of Maxton, with first-degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

Anyone with information about Lee's death is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
