Posted July 16, 2008

— Police have charged two men in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man last Friday.

Kevin "Kiki" Harper, 47, and Quentin "Quen-Quen" Harper Jr., 22, were arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, police said. Both men were being held Wednesday in the Edgecombe County Jail without bond.

Police found Amir Anderson, 24, dead in the front yard of Quentin Harper's home on Branch Street. Anderson had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators have identified a possible motive in the slaying, but no details were released.

Police also have charged Zella Hartfield, 20, and Vincent Harper, 46, with conspiracy after the fact of murder. Officers also were searching Wednesday for Quentin "Pluck" Harper Sr., 44, who has been charged with conspiracy after the fact of murder.

Jason Bernard Hicks, 26, who was questioned in the investigation is no longer considered a suspect, police said.

Anyone with information about Quentin Harper Sr.'s whereabouts or about the shooting is asked to call Twin County-City Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111 or Capt. Martin McCoy of the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1485.

Cary is getting just as bad as Rocky Mount. Before long, they will constantly be in the news. The only reason before now, is the officials and news agencies have just been hush-hush on any crime related to Cary.

I feel sorry for the residents of Rocky Mount. This kind of story is becoming business-as-usual over there.

teacher-mom, if I'm not mistaken 4 of them were family and stayed in the house where the body was found at. Which brings up another question...."Did the guy that was shot come looking for trouble and could it have been they shot him before he shot first?" I just don't see why they would kill a man cold blooded in their own yard. But, you never know these days.

I do not understand why a twenty something would want to hang out with a forty something.
