DENVER, CO — Stacy Van Tuyl showed up to his BBQ shop to prep food at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, but hasn't been seen since. Meat was left on the counter, his wallet and his phone were inside but there was no sign of him.

His wife arrived at the restaurant, Ragin' Hog BBQ, around 8:30 a.m. and called police when she realized her husband was missing. Family members say it appears blood spots were also left behind, in addition to a hand print smear on the wall. His car was still in the parking lot.

"There was meat on the counter ready to be put into the smoker, I mean he wouldn't just pick up and walk away. I mean something tells me, something happened," said Courtney Watson, Tuyl's sister.

The Denver Police Department confirms they are investigating Van Tuyl's disappearance as a missing persons case. They have issued a flyer that was passed around Denver's Berkeley neighborhood on Thursday.

Several businesses now have that flyer in the window. Van Tuyl and his BBQ is well-known in Denver ever since he opened up the restaurant about three years ago.

"Everyone knows him, so the neighborhood is pretty distraught that he's missing," said Tuesday Van Tuyl, his sister.

Van Tuyl has a wife and two teenage boys. Family can't imagine why anyone might want to hurt him or why he would leave the restaurant in the middle of prepping food.

Anyone with information is asked to call Denver police at (720) 913-2000.
