PHOENIX, AZ — The man behind a sober living home that has neighbors on edge is responding to their concerns, saying he just wants to help people and looks forward to being a good neighbor.

We first told you about the proposed facility last week.

Jim is the owner of Advanced Sober Living, LLC and says there is a very personal reason behind this new venture.

"Unfortunately, I went through losing a brother and watching my parents lose a son through addiction," he said.

He says all he wants to do is make a difference by offering services to not only help addicts stay clean but to help them find their new purpose.

"I found it extremely important to teach them about job skills, resume building, interview skills, all of their options in life to integrate them into life," said Jim.

His new neighbors near 36th Street and Cholla Street are not thrilled with the idea of Advanced Sober Living moving in on their street. They've hired an attorney to figure out what their options are.

Jim says a response to their demand letter is forthcoming but in the mean time, he wants them to know he's heard their complaints.

"No. 1, I respect all of their concerns and I don't take any of their concerns lightly," he said.

His goal, Jim says, is to be a good neighbor. In fact, he says once the center is up and running he plans to have an open door policy adding that despite claims by neighbors to the contrary, his facility will have mandatory drug testing.

"You're going to find that all I care about is integrity and I plan on being a leader in this industry," he said.
