— Wayne County authorities said Thursday that they have filed charges against the owner of four dogs who mauled a 71-year-old Goldsboro woman last week.

Terry Tremain Butler was charged with one count of animal causing a disturbance and one count of animal running at large in connection with the June 25 attack on Mildred Game, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.

Game suffered serious injuries when, authorities say, the dogs – described as pit bulls – attacked her while she was watering plants outside her home on Country Run Lane.

She was set to undergo a third surgery Monday for her injuries, and she was in fair condition Wednesday.

Game's dog, also a pit bull, had to be euthanized after it was hurt trying to protect her, and deputies responding to the attack had to shoot one of the animals after it charged at him.

Butler said last week that he was shocked by and sorry for the attacks. He said the dogs are puppies and that he did not know what might have prompted them to become vicious.

My landlord does this all the time. She uses her dogs as dangerous weapons against people. Her 2 dogs have bitten at least 4 people and they NEVER do anything about it in Wake County. She turns them loose on me and my dog. I was in my yard the other day with my dog (which I always keep him on a leash outside) and she saw me and my dog and still turned them loose. They came into my backyard and almost got me and my dog. She didnt even come into my yard to get them back. She didnt do anything to control them. I am sick of these irresponsible animal owners. People like this man and my landlord doesnt need ANY animals. It should be a law that if you let your dogs run loose and they attack someone or something then you go to jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Especially if you have a history of letting it happen.

There's some pits in my neighborhood and to me it seems like a bad situation. I've called everyone trying to get those dogs help and don't know what else to do. The female dog stays chained up and gets pregnant then put in a pin until the puppies are old enough to sell. Then she's chained up again. Meanwhile there's 5 others chained or in pins. They get off their chains about every week and run through the neighborhood. There's rarely any cars at the home they drop in an fill their bowls with food and leave again. Wish someone could/would help them.

Even puppies must stay in their own home or yard. As you can see they do damage and can kill. And this woman will be paying the price for the rest of her life for your carelessness. The breed not bat but as I use to tell folks that ask if my dog bit I said they had teeth and any animal that can open its mouth and has teeth can bite if they feel threatened

If those dogs did that as puppies, I hate to say it but maybe they should be put down. Granted it was most likely intensified by 'pack mentality' I'm afraid they would do it again. Results might be worse next time :( Not a good situation no matter how you look at it.
