— A driver speeding to elude arrest caused the crash that closed eastbound lanes of the N.C. Highway 98 Bypass (Dr. Calvin Jones Highway) in Wake Forest Thursday morning, a police spokesman said.

The chase began in Franklin County where sheriff's deputies tried to arrest Skylar Steven Blackley, 20, of 108 Grayson Court in Knightdale. He fled, leading deputies ultimately to N.C. 98 in Wake Forest where local police joined the pursuit, Bill Crabtree, Wake Forest police spokesman, said.

Crabtree said Blackley was driving west in the eastbound lanes of N.C. 98 around 10 a.m., and the driver of a concrete-mixer truck had to swerve to avoid hitting him, and that truck tipped over.

The truck driver was taken to WakeMed with injuries that did not appear to be serious, Crabtree said.

The road reopened just after noon.

Blackley will face charges of speeding, running a red light, driving the wrong way on a dual lane highway and careless and reckless driving in addition to any charges from Franklin County.

Give him one year in prison. He is still young enough that it might do him some good.

Trubieforlife, good to point out the information, but sadly the description could fit at least several thousand more men in Wake County - don't need em all causing wrecks when they get chased.

Hmm, car chase - let me guess...ends in crash? Not someone who was imminently dangerous to the public or LEO, either. There is plenty of technology for dealing with these situations that the legislature should be funding.

To all of you who think you know something I do know this individual personally and he was running due to the fact that he had 7 warrants out for his arrest! Yes he was adopted and given every opportunity to make something out of himself, instead he does drugs abuses pregnant women and has sex with underage girls! He is extreamly abusive to his adoptive parents, steals from everyone, and all in all thinks the world revolves around him! He does not work and has been on the run for months now! I am very sad about the truck driver but at least now my daughter can walk around our neighborhood without fear of him assaulting, and kidnapping my child AGAIN!!!!

Super Genius, let me spell it out for you
    1. He was born to a lady that did not keep him. 2. He was adopted by the people that raised him. He has known no other parental figure because he was never in foster care. Understand?

Don't be so defensive and just admit you have no idea of what you speak. Arm chair quarterbacking from the safety of your anonymous computer identity will never be the equivalent of real experience and actually being there and knowing what happened and why it occurred.

Putting aside your sarcasm, they might very well grab him at dinner or while he is sleeping. They might get him while at work or anywhere else where they know they can safely arrest him. The police can and do find an opportunity where the suspect cannot flee in a vehicle. As I said before, the police have all the time in the world. You can only run from the police for a short time.

I agree, police should have taken the safer option, and let him ride away. And when he is fully rested in his home, after dinner, police should have made an appointment to come by and escort him to the precinct. I am sure he would have waited for the police. He looks lie a really nice guy. Right?

He is piece of waste... And need to rot in jail.

BTW, he is white, and great job to the police to be able to catch him.
