Overland Park man gets probation after trying to steal plane

An Overland Park man received his sentence on Thursday after trying to steal a plane from Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in 2016.

CLAY COUNTY, MO — An Overland Park man received his sentence on Thursday after trying to steal a plane from Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in 2016.

Adam Scott was charged with first-degree tampering with an airplane/motorboat and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. He was charged in both Clay County and Platte County.

A judge sentenced Scott to five years of probation after his team reached a deal with Clay County.

On June 17, 2016, Scott allegedly stole a shuttle van from Terminal B of the Kansas City International Airport. He then showed up at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport an hour later, where he's accused of trying to steal an airplane.
