— About 1,100 Duke Energy Progress customers around Eastgate Park are without power Monday morning.

Meg Garland, who lives on Paine Court near the park, said she heard a transformer cutting on and off several times before it went out.

The outage was reported just after 5 a.m. Monday. Power is expected to be restored before 8 a.m., according to Duke Energy Progress.

Eastgate Park is located just north of the Beltline between Quail Hollow Drive and Wingate Drive.

AND, since this is my neighborhood sure would be nice to get an update, but that's probably asking too much for some FOLLOW-UP

I'm with you Dr. Sanchez, that was also the last serious time I lost power in Raleigh.....now it's happening too frequently.

As to the trees on Quail Hollow, they get trimmed-wasn't trees that took out the lines.

What do the trees look like down Quail Hollow Dr - have they grown up right next to the powerline?

It definitely seems that we're seeing a lot more outages affecting large numbers of people being reported. I am curious if it does have to do with the way Duke conducts business versus Progress. My parents have always had Duke Energy and have probably half a dozen power outages lasting more than 6 hours per year. The last time I lost power here in Raleigh with Progress was the ice storm I think it was December 2002.

For once I agree w/ you Obamacare.....This is becoming a too frequent occurrence....not too long ago there was a line from one pole to another crossing our street and poof, it sparked and fell down one day. DE did come fairly quickly (within 1.5 hrs) to fix it but still.....

Looks like Duke Energy is dropping the ball all over the area. You got your rate increase, how about maintaining the existing infrastructure. Ever hear of preventive mainteneance?

getting to be a neighborhood habit. going the other way on Quail Hollow this morning on way to work there was some kind of line across the road-right where they replaced a pole friday morning that knocked out power all day
