Dix Park near downtown Raleigh has a couple of fun family events lined up this month.

Here's what's scheduled:

EGGcellent Adventures, for kids ages 2 to 6, is 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., March 9. Here's a description: Preschoolers can find out about the many animals that begin life in an egg with stories, songs, games and crafts. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration, which you can do through EventBrite, is required as this is a popular program. Adults accompanying children don't need to register.

And a Movie by Moonlight starts at 7:30 p.m., March 25. Here's a description: "Join us for a family friendly, PG-rated adventure in Flowers Field at Dorothea Dix Park. We'll watch classic cartoon characters team up with one of the greatest players of all time in an 'out of this world' basketball game! Can you guess what movie we're showing?!" (Pretty sure I can guess ... but I won't spoil the fun)!

The movie and popcorn are free. American Meltdown Food Truck, Captain Cookie and the Milkman Food Truck also will be on site if you want to buy dinner or snacks. Be sure to bring a blanket and chairs. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m. More information is available on the EventBrite page.

Both events are free, thanks to a grant from the Dix park Conservancy.
