MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Raleigh-Durham International Airport says it has resumed flight operations on a limited basis after technical issues at a flight control center in Virginia.

The airport announced earlier Saturday afternoon that all departures had been halted because of the outage at the FAA center.

About two hours later, around 3 p.m., the airport said that operations were resuming on a "very limited" basis. It warned travelers to expect heavy delays and to check with airlines for flight status.

The FAA says it's investigating an automation problem at its center in Leesburg, Virginia that has affected several airports on the East Coast. The problem isn't believed to be caused by any accident or hacking.
