COATS, N.C. — A commissioner removed from the town board in July has filed suit against the town.

Dee Carter also names Coats Mayor Marshall Miller, Commissioners Margaret House and Walter Weeks and Town Administrator Tony White as defendants in the suit, which seeks her reinstatement to the board.

Carter was charged with disorderly conduct and communicating threats during a confrontation at Town Hall in July. Officials quickly voted to oust her from the board, and her appeal of the move was rejected last week.

In the suit, she alleged that the ouster was illegal because she wasn't given proper notice of the removal vote.
