Orange County tractor-trailer wreck shuts down part of I-40/I-85 overnight

— Crews re-opened part of Interstate 40 in Orange County Wednesday morning after two tractor-trailers wrecked near the I-40/I-85 split near Hillsborough.

The wreck, which happened around 1:30 a.m., caused one of the trucks to catch fire. One of the trucks also lost a load of energy drinks.

Emergency crews took one person to Duke Hospital for treatment. The extent of the person’s injuries was unknown.

    There were plenty of aluminum cans piled up on the side of the interstate and sand on the highway early this morning. It looked like a real mess had happened.
