Orange County man, 64, shot in home invasion

Three masked men broke into an Orange County home early Saturday and shot a 64-year-old man, sheriff's investigators said in a release Monday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Three masked men broke into an Orange County home early Saturday and shot a 64-year-old man, sheriff's investigators said in a release Monday.

Willie Robinson said he heard several loud noises outside his house at 2923 Neville Road around 4:40 a.m., then the front door burst open. Investigators said three men rushed into Robinson’s bedroom, shot him in the stomach and then ran to a vehicle parked down the road.

Robinson was taken to a local hospital, where he was in guarded condition and recovering Monday.

A friend of Robinson who was at his home was not injured.

The three men who broke into the house have not been identified.
