Orange County man, 64, shot in home invasion

Posted May 21, 2012

— Three masked men broke into an Orange County home early Saturday and shot a 64-year-old man, sheriff's investigators said in a release Monday.

Willie Robinson said he heard several loud noises outside his house at 2923 Neville Road around 4:40 a.m., then the front door burst open. Investigators said three men rushed into Robinson’s bedroom, shot him in the stomach and then ran to a vehicle parked down the road.

Robinson was taken to a local hospital, where he was in guarded condition and recovering Monday.

A friend of Robinson who was at his home was not injured.

The three men who broke into the house have not been identified.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office at 919-245-2900.

And no, I do not have kids in my house, nor do I have grand-kids that visit....mxteam44. I have plenty of guns in my house and I have grandkids that are here constantly. They have been taught over and over about gun safety. I have NEVER had any thought that they would touch my guns without permission. It's all in the training and that is where most screw-ups happen. People are afraid for kids to touch a gun. I want my kids to touch guns. I want them to hunt, target practice, and protect themselves. But I want them to do it right. And do you know? They do. Every time. Without question.

This is why I keep a loaded pistol by my bed. Too many crazy folks out there! And no, I do not have kids in my house, nor do I have grand-kids that visit. When I do, I'll have to lock them up. In the meantime, walk into my house uninvited in the wee hours of the morning.......get carried out on a gurney!

Hope this does not spew into a Trayvon Zimmerman issue. One is enough.

Motive PLEASE....the public can't take random home invasion to simply shoot someone

It would have been awesome if he had met them at the door with a shotgun.

I doubt this was drugs or revenge for the simple fact the man was 64 years old. Also, i'm not sure if anyone noticed but robberies in groups of 3 have been occurring frequently for months now. My guess is they didn't plan to shoot, but someone did when they saw him and they all ranned. I think everyone should invest in purchasing Door Reinforcers for the front and back doors, a very loud security alarm system, and a shotgun for backup.

This is too crazy. Drugs have to be involved here...

Sounds to me like this was a revenge shooting.
