— State troopers are investigating a wreck that killed Christopher Michael Steiner, 21, on Sunday. Steiner was a member of the Nine Mile volunteer fire department.

Steiner was traveling about 90 mph in a 55 mph zone on Nine Mile Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, Sgt. M.W. King with the state Highway Patrol said.

The Onslow County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Steiner died of blunt force trauma to the head.

People I ride with stay within the law. I'm sorry for this families loss but speed is a killer in cars and bikes.

I was thinking the same - half from speed/lose of control the other half from auto/truck drivers hitting them. Could be wrong though.

It seems like there have been about 25 motorcyclists killed on NC roads in the past six weeks or so.
