Onslow deputies investigate infant's drowning

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Onslow County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the drowning death of a 7-month-old boy Sunday at a home on Ben Williams Road.

The infant’s father told investigators that he had put the boy and another child in the tub. When he went to check on them, the infant was under water. The father estimated that the child had been under water for eight minutes.

The infant was taken to Onslow Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
