Driver charged with DWI in fatal Sampson County wreck
State troopers said a 30-year-old woman was driving drunk when she lost control of her vehicle and flipped. Her passenger died at the scene.
Posted — UpdatedTroopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Stephanie Hunter, 30, was intoxicated as she drove along Keener Road in Sampson County shortly after 7 p.m.
Hunter hit a sharp curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle, which overturned, troopers said.
Her passenger, 50-year-old Sharon Brayboy, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say she was pinned in the car and suffered serious head injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Hunter was taken to Sampson Regional Hospital for tests. She was later charged with felony death by a motor vehicle and driving while impaired.
Bond information was not immediately available.
