One sister dead, another injured in Smithfield crash

Posted October 6, 2009

— One sister died and another was injured early Tuesday in a car crash on Interstate 95 South near mile marker 93 in Smithfield.

Angelina Overton, 18, was driving with her sister, Jaclyn McDonald, 25, in the passenger seat, authorities said. They were driving from their home in Woodbridge, Va., to see family in Georgia.

Overton drove off the road to the left, hit the rumble strips, over-corrected, went off the road and hit a tree, troopers said. Overton died at the scene. Emergency crews took McDonald to WakeMed. She was expected to survive.

Both sisters were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol and speed were not factors, authorities said.

mac, it doesn't make me feel any better on the inside knowing how heartless you are being in this forum. Isn't he violating some code of ethics here? Come on WRAL I have seen people prohibited from posting with less than this. He is blatently inciting arguements on this forum for the words he is citing.

And mac, if no one else finds it in their heart to pray for you..then I will.

Mac, mac, mac...it may not bring her back but it will offer more in the form of comfort than your snide comment would.

I lost a sister in a car accident years ago and there isn't anything that will bring her back except the comfrot I feel when others extend their arms for a hug then slap my in the face with their vile words.

My heart goes out to the sister who was driving. She will need all the love and prayers we can extend to her in her time of grief. God Bless.
