— A 12-year-old boy was shot in the hip during a drive-by shooting on the 200 block of North Blacknail Street Monday night.

The teenager was walking when he was shot at about 9:45 p.m., police said. The injury does not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from an argument earlier in the day, police said.

Detectives canvassed the area Tuesday in search of additional information. No arrests were made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact CrimeStoppers, which pays cash for anonymous tips leading to an arrest in felony cases, at (919) 683-1200.

And exactly what does your post have to do with the article? Did you actually READ it? where does it state he was "standing on the street corner"?

You should always be aware of where you are. In this case the man was in the wrong town all together.

This area is about as bad as it gets in Durham. You couldn't give me enough money to walk any of those streets in the middle of the afternoon much less at 9 pm at night.

"Innocent" people don't spend their lives idly standing on the street corner for hours at a time.

If they had a job or did something to contribute to their upkeep most of this would not happen.

Just the fallout from the entitlement generation(s).

So are auto accidents and any other number of ways to be injured, either by accident or on purpose. A drive-by shooting is likely gang related. Without guns you'll still have gang violence, just with different weapons. The problem is the gangs.

Or a bad shot. Or the car hit a bump just as the trigger is pulled. Or the person who got shot saw it coming and tried to get out of the way. You really have no clue at all.
