One shot in Fayetteville home invasion

A man was shot and another pistol whipped during a home invasion Tuesday morning in Fayetteville, authorities said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was shot and another pistol whipped during a home invasion Tuesday morning in Fayetteville, authorities said.

Fayetteville police are looking for three assailants who forced their way into the home, at 3529 Beechnut Court, shortly after 8 a.m. and stole personal property and money.

One of the assailants shot Richard Squire, 24, whose wound was not life threatening. A second resident, Garion Mangum, 22, was pistol whipped. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police issued an alert for a silver Toyota 4-Runner driven by the assailants.
