Posted February 12, 2013

— One person was injured Tuesday morning in a wreck near Apex.

The wreck, which involved a Ford pickup truck and a Honda Civic, happened around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Optimist Farm and Bells Lake roads.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said James Tyler Buchanan, 19, of New Hill, was driving in the Civic west on Optimist Farm Road when he ran a stop sign and struck two other vehicles.

Buchanan was taken to WakeMed with life-threatening injuries, trooper Nathan White said. He was listed in critical condition Tuesday evening.

Charges are pending, White said.

    Distracted by what?

  • caitlinwebster12 Feb 13, 2013

The driver of the Honda Civic is my brother. We think that he was distracted and didn't see the stop sign. So if people would quit talking about my brother "running" the stop sign on purpose it would help a lot. You don't know what kind of pain and stress my parents, siblings, and family members are going through. My brother is severely hurt, stop talking about him running the light and care about a person. I mean, do humans not have any emotions for others anymore?

I don't why people run stop signs and red lights.
but I watched 3 people turn right on red at tryon/401 today..
    tryon on gold course side
even though there is a no right on red sign..and they had stopped first!!! where's a LEO when you need one..one was towing a trailer with concrete drain pipes..

    total disrespect for the rules..

Been through that intersection numerous times. Always scares the dickens out of me. Hope the Civic driver is OK.
