One person killed, one hurt in Cumberland County fire

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies and the State Bureau of Investigation were investigating a fatal fire Monday morning in a subdivision near Hope Mills.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's deputies and the State Bureau of Investigation were investigating a fatal fire Monday morning in a subdivision near Hope Mills.

Officials said the blaze apparently began about 1 a.m. in a bedroom of the house at 4862 Monticello Ave. in the Colonial Heights neighborhood.

A second person suffered non-life-threatening issues and was hospitalized, deputies said.
