One of three men wanted in Fayetteville murder captured

Fayetteville Police Chief Harold Medlock said in a news conference that Reed, 20, was captured in a home by members of a U.S. Marshals Service task force. Medlock said Reed was trying to hide from police in an attic when he fell through the ceiling at about 9:30 a.m.

Reed is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being transported to Fayetteville Thursday afternoon to be interviewed about Williams' murder. 

According to investigators, Williams has stopped at a Kangaroo station on Bragg Boulevard to ask for directions when he was forced into his car and shot a few blocks away. 

Medlock said Thursday that investigators are still searching for Kelly Eugene Elliott, 31, and Joseph DeShawn Haskins, 21, also wanted on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

Haskins, whose last known address was on Spellman Drive in Fayetteville, also faces a conspiracy charge.

Elliott, whose last known address was on Dominion Road in Fayetteville, has served time for assault, robbery, vehicle theft and drugs.

"That investigation into his whereabouts is as active and assertive as it has been for the last week," Medlock said. 

Anthony Solomon Porter, 36, of 1319 Odom Drive, was arrested Friday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and conspiracy to commit felonious assault. He also faces warrants from Raleigh police on two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

Eric Lamont Phillips, 32, was arrested Sept. 3 on charges of two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and intent to sell and deliver cocaine. Porter and Phillips are accused of committing crimes with Elliott, but they have not been specifically linked to Williams' death.
