One of Raleigh's oldest residents died Tuesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One of Raleigh’s oldest residents died Tuesday.

Pota Vallas is remembered by friends and family as a pioneering entrepreneur and businesswoman. She was 109.

Vallas was born in Greece and owned a home decorating business in Raleigh for decades. She helped furnish many businesses across the state, including Capitol Broadcasting Company.

She was extremely active in the community and with the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
