What about factors out of our control?...like a flock of birds coming across the road...a farmer on a tractor around a turn...a small pile of gravel, trash or oil left in the road by a truck...etc.

That's where other things help like: experience, staying at or below the maximum safe speed limit, defensive driving, etc.

really? Without knowing any evidence you decide to blame the victim? Unless you were there, keep your callous opinions to yourself and simply send well wishes to the family and friends of the person who died.

It seems that so many people just don't understand that they must be in complete control of their vehicle at all times.
