One killed in wreck on Fort Bragg

— A driver died in a single-vehicle wreck on Fort Bragg early Friday, authorities said.

The vehicle was traveling west on Vass Road in the northern portion of the post shortly before 7 a.m. when it ran off the road and hit a tree, authorities said. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The driver's identity was withheld, pending notification of the family.

    I'm sorry the driver ran off the road. I'm glad nobody else was hurt in this wreck and I hope the tree is OK.

    It was probably some poor soldier who had just got off of 24 hour duty and was very tired and fell asleep going home.

    Well....it doesn't say it was a soldier. That particular area is open to all traffic unless the post is on a lock down, then they shut off the post with a gate. A lot of folks working on Bragg come that way too. Either way, it's tragic.

    That's a 2 lane road going through a wooded area and kinda crooked. A lot of folks use it. It's just one of those things.....I'm sorry to hear it and will keep this soldier in my thoughts and prayers.
