Posted November 29, 2014

Nicholas Ray Daniels

— A Rocky Mount man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 31-year-old who was killed early Saturday, the Nash County Sheriff's Office said.

According to investigators, Tony Pittman Jr. was shot by Nicholas Ray Daniels at about 3:30 a.m. after an altercation at a home at 3030 Como Drive. Pittman and Daniels knew each other, authorities said, and Pittman had come to the home prior to the altercation.

Daniels, who lives at the home, was in the Nash County jail Saturday morning being held without bond.

No other information about the shooting has been released.

"Pittman had come to the home prior to the altercation."

Either this is obvious, since Pittman had to have been present for his own altercation, or there was an altercation not involving Pittman and the shooter decided to punish him for merely being present.

I think a lot is missing in this story.

On the surface it looks like Pittman went looking for trouble and found it, but obviously given the murder charge we don't have all the details.
