Fatal motorcycle wreck
KENLY, N.C. — A 51-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding crashed on Tedder Road near Kenly.

Tony Helms, of 1185 Tedder Rd., was test riding a motorcycle he was repairing for a friend when he lost control on a curve, ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch and overturned several times, the N.C. State Highway Patrol said.

Helms, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Light rain was on the roadway when Helms crashed. Speed was a factor, troopers said.
