Man, 65, killed in Goldsboro shooting

A 65-year-old man died early Wednesday after being shot at a home on East Elm Street in Goldsboro, police said.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 65-year-old man died early Wednesday after being shot at a home on East Elm Street in Goldsboro, police said.

Officers were called to 102 E. Elm St. at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found William Andrew Alston, who had been shot.

Alston, of Goldsboro, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Goldsboro police said Wednesday that there could have been a robbery prior to the shooting. No other information has been released.
