One killed in early morning shooting in Durham

— Durham police are investigating a homicide that happened early Tuesday on Wabash Street near Truman Street.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 4:23 a.m. When they arrived, they found Dennis Lamb, 23, of Durham, lying in the street. He had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said they do not believe the shooting was random, based on their preliminary investigation.

    @streetglide....i guess with your thinking, no one should raise their children, invest, retire in any city that has crime? That removes all major cities and some minor from your list? you want to live in a cave? all of these shootings happen in the same area of Durham, it's almost all gang and/or drug related. So, unless you live in that area or deal with drugs or gangs, I think the rest of Durham is ok---how do I know? Oh right I live here!

    If the system would change and these criminals would get the chair immediately - instead of 3 squares, shelter, tv, country club with friends that they get now, maybe it might deter at least of few of them from doing such things..

    What is up with these people in Durham, Fayetteville among other cities? Its almost like they should have a shoot each other and get it over day. Just have everyone come outside and line up like dodgeball...then shoot away...get it over with already. They kill enough innocents as it is.
