Woman killed in Durham wreck

Posted May 14, 2013

— A three-vehicle crash in Durham Tuesday morning killed a 24-year-old woman, police said.

Krystal Lashay Langley was trying to make a left turn from Bon Air Avenue onto southbound North Roxboro Street shortly before noon when she crossed into a path of a box truck. The impact of that collision caused Langley's 1995 Chevrolet Corsica to hit a third vehicle, a 2007 Mazda 3.

Langley was trapped in her car before being rescued by firefighters and taken to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

The drivers of the truck and Mazda were not injured.

Roxboro Road was closed between Murray Avenue and Bon Air Avenue for four hours while police investigated the crash.

No charges have been filed.

There is a stoplight at that intersection. If she was making a left off Bon Air onto southbound Roxboro Rd. then someone ran the red light.

It really sucks to hear that. I don't know the young lady, but we're praying for her family at this sad time.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a young and vibrant woman. I remember trying to get her to commit to our university quiz bowl team as she was very bright and competitive. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends. The NCCU family has lost a shining star.

I know that road. It's 4 lanes, busy at the noon rush, and oncoming traffic is coming downhill toward where she was turning. That's a difficult turn. Very unfortunate result. Prayers for her family and friends in their grief and healing.
