One killed in Duplin County plane crash

One person was killed in a plane crash on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Edwards Road and Magnolia Mobile Home Park Lane in Duplin County.

MAGNOLIA, N.C. — One person was killed in a plane crash on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Edwards Road and Magnolia Mobile Home Park Lane in Duplin County, according to Federal Aviation Administration Kathleen Burgen.

The RV-6 plane, an experimental aircraft built from a kit, took off from the Wilmington Airport at 12:40 p.m. and crashed into a wooded area a short time later, Burgen said. There was only one person on-board.

The pilot has not been identified. The crash is under investigation.
