One killed, another injured after collision with train in Winston-Salem

One person was killed and another injured Saturday after being hit by a train in Winston-Salem.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One person was killed and another injured Saturday after being hit by a train in Winston-Salem.

Authorities said that officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the railroad bridge over Salem Lake in reference to a Norfolk Southern train that hit two people walking on the railroad bridge.

Police said Karen Harlow, 51, of 1910 Mayfair Avenue, died at the scene.

Aleyn William Griswold, 31, of the same address was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
