One dead, one injured in Kinston shooting

Kinston, N.C. — One man died and another was injured in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the 900 block of E. King Street in Kinston.

Officers responded to the address at about 3:45 p.m. after getting a call about a fight and shots being fired. There, they found Dajuquon "DJ" Poole, 19, and Tiran C. Farris, 28, both of Kinston, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The men were taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where Poole was pronounced dead and Farris was listed in stable condition, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Kinston police tips line at 252-939-4020 or Commander Jennifer Canady at 252-939-3225.
