One dead, one injured in Fayetteville crash

Posted October 13, 2008

— Troopers said alcohol and speeding might be to blame for a crash that killed a Fayetteville woman Sunday morning.

Tamara Chambers, 29, died after being thrown from a Ford Explorer on Interstate 295 in Cumberland County.

The other person in the vehicle, 25-year-old Maurice Rivera, survived. He was in critical condition.

Neither person was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. Authorities said they weren’t sure who was driving.

From the skid marks and the "scar" left on the road, I would say that coming out of that with your life would have been pretty close to a miracle. I've also read reports that excessive speed was involved. Sorry for the families of all involved.

Seatbelts, if worn, save lives. This should be a reminder to us all of how important it is to buckle up.
