I am from the coast and I have lived all over the Triad and I have work in Law enforcement in all areas.Crime is everywhere but it's reported happening in Durham 70 percent of the time in paper and on the news. You would be surpised of what happens in the surrounding cities that never make it on news or the paper.I wonder why that happens all the time.I like Durham and I live here with no problems it's not Durham it's where u live and how u live and that's in every city and town I have lived in and worked in.

I think people bash Durham because everyone knows there are gangs hanging out but there doesn't seem to be any real effort by the earth biscuits and upper crust to weed that mess out and make things right. That's one of the reasons...

    seankelly15--

Didn't you know that crime only happens in Durham? The rest of the Triangle is crime free and full of puppies and rainbows.

It always amazes me how quickly the anti-Durham crowd comes out to hate every time a crime is reported in Durham, but they manage to ignore crime everywhere else.

I always hate reading about this going on in my home city. Sure it's segregated to the typical crime ridden pockets of Durham, but it only fuels the anti-Durham crowd. I live in Cary now, so I certainly can't complain.

SK15-- The feds and nc pick up the tab on these events!! What the hospital can't write off on insured people of course!! Do you think that aspirin really costs $5, or are you paying for the next guy who doesn't have or want insurance in order to pursue their individual freedoms and social justice??

nogade - You are soooo confused. Duke is a trauma center. If YOU wanted to go to Duke ED for treatment you are free to do so. Your insurance will be charged for the visit. I have been treated there and I assure you that I am NOT POOR and NOT A CRIMINAL. Your ignorance is breathtaking.

"APEX, N.C. — Wake County sheriff's deputies were still at the scene of a shooting just outside Apex Sunday night.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison confirmed that three people were inside the house at 4224 Brook Cross Drive when gunfire erupted around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Wake County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Phyllis Stephens said the shooting was "not a random act," but declined to comment on possible suspects or motives.

One woman was shot and killed. A man was shot and transported to WakeMed for treatment of his injuries."

I didn't see ANYTHING posted by you for this story.
