RALEIGH, N.C. — One man died and another was hurt in a single-vehicle crash early Monday on North New Hope Road in Raleigh.

Raleigh police said the crash happened about 2 a.m. The driver, identified as Denis Ricardo Mineros-Campos, 21, ran his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado off the right side of the road near Woodlawn Drive, sideswiped a guardrail, over-corrected, left the road again and struck a tree.

Mineros-Campos died at the scene. His front-seat passenger, Carlos Alberto Zelada-Rivera, 19, was taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

North New Hope Road was closed in both directions, from Buffaloe Road to James Street, for nearly four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
