According to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office, a passing motorist called 911 shortly after 10:30 a.m. Saturday about a possible fatality at 771 Hodges Chapel Road in Dunn.

Authorities said they found James R. Elmore dead with a gunshot wound and his wife, Jennifer Elmore, wounded. She was transported to Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing, although it does not appear that any other persons are involved.
