Man killed in Fayetteville front-yard explosion

Fayetteville police said a man died Saturday night during an explosion in the front yard of a residence on St. Louis Street.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police said a man died Saturday night in an explosion in the front yard of a home off Bunce Road.

Investigators said people were standing around a fire pit at 6544 St. Louis St. when something caused the explosion about 8:30 p.m. It appeared to be an accident.

Martin Antoine Blossom, 28, who lived at the home, was killed. 

Several others were hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening. Police said two men, a woman and a girl were taken for treatment to Cape Fear Valley Hospital.
