One dead, another injured in Red Springs convenience store shooting

An elderly customer was killed and a store clerk was injured Thursday night after they were shot at a Red Springs convenience store, authorities said.

RED SPRINGS, N.C. — An elderly customer was killed and a store clerk was injured Thursday night after they were shot at a Red Springs convenience store, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 7 p.m. at Roscoe's Convenience Store, located at 400 North Main Street.

Police were responding to a report of a possible armed robbery when the victims were discovered, Red Springs Police Chief Ronnie Patterson said.

The store clerk is believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was being treated at a local hospital, Patterson said.

No arrests were made Thursday night.
