One arrested for shooting at Raeford birthday party

Raeford, N.C. — A 22-year-old Raeford man was arrested for injuring one person while firing shots at a birthday party.
Silvester Moultrie Jr., of 1620 McBryde Lake Road, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into occupied property for the June 27 incident. He remained in the Hoke County jail Wednesday under a $200,000 bond.
Moultrie is accused of firing multiple shots while inside the garage of a home at 1522 Pope St. in Raeford. Deputies said he fired more shots into the structure from outside.
Bineka Tarpley was shot below her right knee cap during the incident, deputies said.
Moultrie was involved in an altercation with other men at the party before the shooting, deputies said.
