Officials: Marines injured in training accident at Camp Pendleton

A training accident at Camp Pendleton that left 15 Marines injured Wednesday morning is under investigation, base officials confirmed.

CAMP PENDLETON, CALIF. — A training accident at Camp Pendleton that left 15 Marines injured Wednesday morning is under investigation, base officials confirmed.

Camp Pendleton officials said Marines from 1st Marine Division were conducting "scheduled battalion training" on land when the accident happened just after 9:30 a.m.

According to officials, the accident involved "an amphibious landing vehicle."

Officials said: "All Marines are currently being treated for injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Marines and their families as they receive medical care."

Details on what led to the accident were not disclosed.
