Officials: Fort Bragg soldier charged with rape of fellow soldier

— Fayetteville police on Friday arrested and charged a 26-year-old Fort Bragg soldier with the kidnapping and rape of a soldier assigned to the same Army unit.

Johnathan Simpson, 26, of Moonstone Court, was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and sexual battery, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. The alleged sexual assault occurred in the 1000 block of Bragg Boulevard on April 25.

Simpson was taken into custody at his unit on Fort Bragg with the assistance of the Fort Bragg Military Police. He is being held on a $250,000 secured bond.

    [incidentally, I was pointing out that our government is insisting that women and children must be protected at the expense of the civil rights of everyone in the this state, yet women are still being assaulted and raped every day... without a peep from the legislature. This isn't pro-LGBT or making light of anything - this is a serious issue about the failures in our government and, yes, it usually takes tragedies like these to wake people up.]
