Officials: 2 teens struck by car in Zebulon; driver fell asleep

Two teenagers are recovering from mild injuries Monday morning after they were struck by a car.

ZEBULON, N.C. — Two teenagers are recovering from mild injuries Monday morning after they were struck by a car.

According to officials with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, two males, ages 15 and 18, were struck around 6:30 a.m. while walking along Mitchell Mill Road.

The teenagers were transported to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and faces charges of careless and reckless driving and failure to reduce speed.
