— A police officer was injured Wednesday morning when his patrol car was rear-ended, police said.

Officer C.E. Heim was southbound on Miami Boulevard near N.C. Highway 54 when he slowed for traffic and his cruiser was hit from behind by a 1999 Honda Accord, police said.

Heim was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Satya-Pharni Narra, of Durham, the driver of the Accord, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.

Oh, man, it's horrible to get in an accident anyway ... but to rear-end an officer. Yikes. Hope the officer's okay.

I'm glad it was not the officers fault or there would be 200+ comments from outraged taxpayers.

    Hoping the officer is o.k.
