Skywatching at Historic Oak View County Park

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center has a couple of skywatching sessions this week.

The first is at Historic Stagville in Durham. Stagville Under the Stars is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday. The free event will feature African tales about the night sky and opportunities to take a look at what's out there through telescopes.
Historic Oak View County Park will offer an evening of stories and stargazing this Saturday.

A Starlit View is 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, at the park at 4028 Carya Dr. in Wake County. The free event is designed for all ages.

During the program, visitors will learn star facts and stories. Then, weather permitting, they'll head out to the park's front lawn to observe and identify stars and constellations with telescopes. Registration isn't required. You can just show up!
